Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
I have a Sony Vaio TZ (22VN), with graphics chip Intel 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML and X crashes time from time. Sometimes it simply displays garbled graphics, and it doesn't quite crash, but I have to restart the server. However, if I try to play a video using mplayer and the xv driver, I consistently get garbled graphics and the server is restarted.
If I try to play a video using totem, I don't get a server crash, but it fails with this error:
"""
The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 82 error_code 11 request_code 132 minor_code 19)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I can also confirm this error is returned on my eeePC 900, however X does not crash - but Totem closes when attempting to play video, with the same terminal output.
I have discovered a work around is to open 'gstreamer- properties' -> 'Video' tab -> Set 'Plugin' to 'X Window System (No Xv)'. However, this seems to affect the performance of video playback in some cases.
