Bug Description

Ubuntu 9.04 beta:

After upgrading from 8.10 the CPU temperature rises to 99 C. Fan blows permanently but CPU does not cool down.

Under 8.10 it was bad but not that bad.

Running 7.10 from the same machine: No noise, CPU temp max to 45 C.

What makes the CPU run hot in 8.10 and 9.04?

System: HP nx8220 notebook.

Did you look in BIOS to see the real temp? If you didn't do you know how to get into BIOS? rowbgcolor=lightgreen

There is no indication about cpu or any other temperature. I can measure the temperature with an external thermometer. And believe me: The machine is pretty hot (can't touch the bottom of the case).
