trash cannot be emptied or expunged

Binary package hint: evolution

THIS IS BUG IN UP-TO-DATE "EVOLUTION" Email service. On Up-to-date UBUNTU.
I cannot empty my trash folder, nor can I expunge it.

I reported this bug before, earlier this month, March 2009.

Is there a way to REFRESH DATABASE or REPAIR DATABASE for the evolution DBs?

Can the trash DB be removed "by hand"? RM a DB?

The darn thing is getting ridiculously large.
Maybe I should EXPORT my CONTACTS and re-install the whole thing. Is THAT how evolution
planned for people to empty their trash?
