fglrx driver v8.600 and Kwin desktop effects

In ubuntu Jaunty, enabling Desktop effects in KDE4.2 randomly fails, the windows are flickering and sometimes it gets back to the desktop and sometimes not. I have the same problem at boot time and I just restart praying that it will work this time.

My video card is an ATI 4850 (RV700) so I can't try with the radeon open source driver (Xorg.conf is attached)

Thanks for including the attached files. Could you also include your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (or Xorg.0.log.old) from after reproducing the issue?

Updating to kde 4.2.2 didn't solve the problem.

I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
