Bug Description

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

I have been running Jaunty alphas with VirtualBox 2.1.4_OSE successfully for some time using a Slackware host and Jaunty guest. With the release of Jaunty beta I downloaded a fresh iso and attempted to install it with VirtualBox.

Live CD works flawlessly but on installation Jaunty freezes at 90% 'Detecting Hardware', the screen goes black and the next screen shows the 'Live User' screen with an icon for Install. A 2.3 gig install is left on my disk but this is not bootable.

Some discussion here:

I am not convinced this is a VirtualBox issue, there seems to be something not right perhaps with the Live CD's hardware detection, I file the bug report here as I am not entirely sure where it should go----> apologies!

I have managed to install Jaunty as guest by adding the following the 'Live User' xorg.conf:

Section "ServerLayout"
       Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
EndSection

I am not sure of the implications of this? Required xorg reconfigured on reboot.
