Bug Description
After I finished installing Ubuntu, it asks me if I want to install the proprietary driver since it detect my graphic card (mine is FireGL mobility V5700, 512 MB VRAM). I clicked yes, and then enable or activate this driver (or something like that). It seems to search for the driver (in a dialogue) but after that dialogue disappeared, the driver is still not activated (and hence, I cannot enable Compiz).
After doing all the updates (around 230 of them, just normal automatic updates that Ubuntu asks me to after installing the system), I went back to System/
I'm now using ATI's driver but it doesn't run very smoothly (i.e. not very fast). I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks!
Brian

Hi briantk-1988,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
