Ok, I found it.. this bug only happen when root session is active ( sudo su at any console)
I think this is not network-manager related but maybe consolekit or pam
this bug may also effect in wifi WEP connection

I am not able no connect directly to my ADSL connection using network-manager, I can though using pppoeconf on the terminal. The problem appears to be specially severe from the Live CD, ever since network-manager has been integrated to Ubuntu I have been able to connect just once (always using the live CD).
It looks like network manager does not even try to connect. After I enter my username/password for my ADSL connection an give it an ok, it disconnects instantly and that's it. I am not sure if this is a widespread problem or maybe specific for my country (Uruguay).
I can post any log that would help, but don't know which? It is kind of a showstopper when showing off the live CD to other people that use direct ADSL connections to their PCs.
All help greatly appreciated!

Ignacio, it sounds like you're experiencing a different problem than Biji.

If this is so ( ie. you don't have a root session active when trying to connect ), please enter a new bug from the command-line using:

% ubuntu-bug network-manager

This will collect the pertinent log files, package versions, etc...

summary: - (jaunty) Network manager for ADSL connection not working
+ (jaunty) ADSL connection fails if a root session is active

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release the Karmic Koala.
