Bug Description

Binary package hint: ktorrent

I'm running Jaunty beta with latest updates, but I have this problem since I switched to KDE4-version of KTorrent on Intrepid. Every time I open some torrent file in KTorrent (e.g. by looking up, clicking on it and clicking Download), it crashes. Stack trace included in attachments.

Jaunty final release with the latest updates and KDE 4.2.2 and libqca2-2.0.0-4 still has this bug.

Now I can see theat in upstream, there is already 2.0.2 version of QCA, while in Ubuntu, there is 2.0.0 for very long time (since Hardy). Would you consider updating Jaunty's version of QCA?

I have Kubuntu Jaunty and have reproduced this several times. Every time I try to open a torrent, ktorrent freezes everything. For example using 'open' in the menu, or, using firefox going to a torrent such as

I uninstalled ktorrent and then re-installed it this morning. Ktorrent version 3.2.1using KDE 4.2.2
Now when I go to the above link in firefox and open it ktorrent works correctly BUT when I open ktorrent and use the menu 'open' it freezes everything, the screen goes blank, no key or combination of keys will restore the system, except for holding the power button for five seconds to turn off. This is reproducible.

Installing KDE 4.3 beta 2 didn't help, the bug is still present. Is there any other place where I should report it, anyone who I should ping? Having KTorrent unable to download any torrent files is serious bugs, especially if it affects at least two versions of distribution (intrepid, jaunty) for about half a year. It looks like issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qca2/+bug/350882 might be caused by the same bug - at least it crashes in the same function.

Does anybody know if it was fixed at leas for Karmic?

Karmic has the latest QCA2. No clue if that fixes anything, though.
