rdesktop won't connect to Windows XP machine

Bug Description
Binary package hint: rdesktop
Whenever I run rdesktop (via the command line or through tsclient) to connect to a Windows XP machine on my network, it quickly brings up a window (as if to display the new session) and closes it. The only message on the terminal is "Autoselected keyboard map en-us".
I followed the ubuntu wiki's backtracing instructions, but I don't know if it provided any useful input. Please let me know if there's any more debugging I can do; rdesktop is totally unusable for me at this point :(
