cannot use search or url bar after update

this bug is for ubuntu intrepid ibex, package titled "3.08+nobingonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.2". after auto udpate via synaptic, i restarted firefox and now neither the search bar nor the url bar work. one can enter text, but nothing happens when enter is pressed.
