Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

Since no clear reason was added in the changelog, I believe that "Conflicts: nautilus-cd-burner" was added due to this announcement: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/devel-announce-list/2009-January/msg00006.html

Namely, brasero is replacing nautilus-cd-burner feature-wise, but no files seem to be overwritten!
Using Conflicts in this situation is regarded as a policy violation and the "Conflicts: nautilus-cd-burner" should be removed.
nautilus-cd-burner and brasero can co-exist until nautilus-cd-burner (in universe repository?) is not supportable anymore.

Binary package hint: update-manager
As ScottK has suggested in IRC, the nautilus-cd-burner/brasero replacement should be a rule issued for update-manager,

Don't say "is regarded as a policy violation" without providing a citation from the policy manual! I believe that Scott's comment on IRC was mistaken: I know of no provision in policy forbidding Conflicts between packages that don't share files, and I think it would be a mistake for policy to include such a provision.
