Bug Description

Dapper Drake (Flight 5) does not seem to have any support for the control of the CPU fans on my PowerMac G5 1.8 single processor. They ramp up to full throttle during the boot phase and run non-stop at that speed until shut down.

It appears that the iMac G5 is also affected - https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bug/34723

My fans blast at full sppeed on the 2.6.15 kernel. Funny how this didn't affect my on Breezy but only dapper.

My PowerMac G5 does this as well; see my comment on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/27269 for more details about my system.
