Bug Description

Hi,

I'm using Kubuntu and my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520) exhibits a strange behavior when it is resumed back from a suspension.
When I lift the lid the laptop starts working again but instead of prompting my desktop, the screen stays black and the laptop goes back to suspension.
*Then*, if I press the "switch on" button the laptop resumes and my desktop is shown as expected.

I experienced this resume-suspend-resume behavior both in Kubuntu Intrepid and Jaunty (which I am currently using).
I attach the outputs of the dmesg, lspci -vv and lshw commands.
Please contact me in case you need further information.

Giordano

P.S. Jaunty is awesome! :)

One note: the dmesg output refers to a session where the "bad" behavior occurred.

I attach the output of the suspend-resume test (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting) I performed on my machine (I also updated the feedback page of the test).

Cheers

Giordano

It's some days that I am not experiencing this problem anymore.
Perhaps the last upgrades have solved the issue.

I must contradict myself, the issue showed up again.

Unfortunately I can't tell what triggered it :\

Hi Giordano,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 350273

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
