Bug Description

Hi,

I just upgrade a small acer PC from intrepid to jaunty beta an ran into this problem:

The machine has a
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS690 [Radeon X1200 Series]

That's why I had the xorg-driver-fglrx installed. When upgrading, the upgrade-manager told me that this would not be available anymore, but obviously failed to remove it properly. After upgrading, X does not start anymore:

# X

None
X: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libdri.so: undefined symbol: atiddxAbiDixLookupPrivate

The reason:

# dpkg -S /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so
diversion by xorg-driver-fglrx from: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so
diversion by xorg-driver-fglrx to: /usr/lib/fglrx/libdri.so.xlibmesa
xserver-xorg-core, xorg-driver-fglrx: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so

After
# dpkg --purge fglrx-amdcccle xorg-driver-fglrx

it ran into different problems which I still have to figure out. The machine runs with the Ubuntu Jaunty LiveCD, but not after upgrading from intrepid, so there's something more wrong with the upgrade path.

Well, after re-installing the fglrx-driver, the problem is here again, so it does not seem to be a problem of the upgrade path, but of jaunty's xorg-driver-fglrx package.
