Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Distro version: Ubuntu 9.04 (Beta)

Package version: nautilus 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu4

Action: Changed gconf key "apps->nautilus->preferences->show_desktop" value to false

Expected result: allow compiz wallpaper plugin to draw wallpapers.

Actual result: Worked fine for about a minute, after which the system hung (mouse movement was responsive but clicks were delayed by upwards of 2 minutes). Upon reboot, system hung again (this time without any period of responsiveness. Running top in an alternate shell revealed nautilus' CPU usage to be 110% (however that works).

Short term fix: changing the offending gconf key back to true (again via alternate shell) and rebooting returned system to normal.
