The proplem seems to be in file /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
line
inode/directory=Thunar-folder-handler.desktop;nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;
should be
inode/directory=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;Thunar-folder-handler.desktop;

I have found a similar problem, though not with the xubuntu-desktop package. It is probably due to the kubuntu-desktop package (I do not have XFCE installed.) When opening any folders that I bookmarked and the Desktop link, it would open up filelight. I removed filelight, so then it went to the next on the line, cervisia.

I did manage to fix this problem myself by simply re-ordering the line. I cut everything before 'nautilus-folder-handler.desktop' and pasted it behind that line. They open up in Nautilus now as they should.

Strange bug.

yeah, i think the bug is in some install script. It should check if
there allready is default program to open file bookmarks. Have you
tryied if file bookmarks in kde opens with nautilus now?

when more than one installed app can handle the same mimetype the default to use can be changed using system settings. The apps cannot impose themselves as being default handlers so this is not a bug in thunar, nautilus or konqueror.

Why has this bug been rejected? It may not be a problem with thunar/nautilus/konqueror, but it still happens and it doesn't have a good work-around!
