Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

KDE4 does not clear the graphics memory that it uses and displays to screen. This results to old graphics seen in some situations.

For example if you use web browser and then close it and log off, KDE4 usually displays corrupted content of closed web browser window below. This happens sometimes also with another parts of KDE4, but when logging off, it happens every time (or atleast I can't remember any situation when it would have worked as expected).

This may also cause security vulnerabilities if the content of already closed window suddenly appears to the screen of user.

For a good example, please check the attachement. There is a situation where I have used webbrowser and (aptitude with) konsole and then try to log out. Even that I have closed both of these applications, I can still access to their latest display data.

My Ubuntu is Intrepid 8.10 and my graphics card is NVidia GeForceFX 5900 XT.
