Bug Description

For the last week or so, Kubuntu desktop has been unresponsive after coming back from suspend.

Symptoms:
* keyboard works ok
* desktop does not respond to mouse clicks (menu button, right click anything, anything in the panel)
* applications can be started normally using keyboard
* the only mouse action that works is dragging the KDE Twitter plasmoid around the desktop (maybe other plasmoids ?)
* extremely high system load immediately after coming back from suspend
* when I check top a load of 18 or so is seen, rapidly decreasing... no apps consuming massive system resources so it might be a minor thing that triggers load then stops.

Workaround
* Ctrl-Alt-backspace to restart X and log in again. system is then fully responsive.

I've attached a load chart over the last 3 days (the second load spike above Wed 12 is not related to this issue).

This occurred again this morning, resuming from suspend. load avg of 10, rapidly decreasing. Left click on the mouse didn't work, keyboard works, right click on the mouse works. Happens with 2 different USB mice and the notebook trackpad.
Only workaround is to restart X (Ctrl - Alt - Backspace)

This is occurring with kde 4.2.2

If I disconnect the USB mouse then the trackpad works correctly. Reconnecting the USB mouse again causes the trackpad and USB mouse to do what's described in this bug report.

This has been evident since 4.2.1 was installed. The only way to have a function desktop with a USB mouse is to restart X, which kind of makes system suspend in Kubuntu useless.

On Karmic, running KDE 4.3.1, I just attempted this a few times on 3 different machines (1 desktop, 1 laptop, 1 netbook) all running the latest Karmic and I was unable to reproduce this. In the past suspend never worked for me, so I was happy to try this out and I am happy I can suspend again :)

Are you still experiencing this issue? What is your system specs? I use all Intel here and I am not having any issues at this time. Thanks!
