Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-radeon

I have an ATI RS690 integraded graphics chipset (from the AMD 960G). When I first installed Ubuntu 8.10 for AMD64, I had no problems with the display. After updating my system, the screen randomly blanks temporarily and when it is displaying, there is "fuzz" (can't think of a better term) flashing all over the screen. This only happens with the DVI output, using the analog VGA output on the same computer with the same configuration and the same monitor works fine. I assume this is a problem with the radeon driver.
The current version of the xserver-xorg-video-radeon package is 1:6.9.0+git20081003.f9826a56-0ubuntu2.
Attached is a copy of the X server log after I logged in.

Hi kbjbfg70,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
