Bug Description

As of 3/14/06, gfloppy, included in gnome-utils, is reporting the following errors while trying to run gfloppy. This is a Dapper x86 install.

Cannot Utilize Device
Unable to open any device, formatting cannot continue.

Selecting OK on this dialog terminates the application.

Error occurs with or without a disk in the drive.

This drive operates correctly and is fully functional under all other systems, e.g. Windows, Breezy, FC4/5, Debian Stable/Testing/Unstable. Gfloppy has worked properly prior to system updates on this installation. All system settings are default from the install, e.g. fstab, etc.

Thanks for your bug. Does a "sudo modprobe floppy" fixes your issue?

Yes, it does. Why this module isn't already installed is interesting.

Thank you for the reply. Reassigning to Scott and udev, if that's not the right place Scott will know what package is to blame
