Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx

xorg seems to be using all the RAM up. After 1-2 days of use all my RAM is used. Then the hard disk goes wild and I have to ctrl-alt-backspace. (I have 3G RAM and I'm not using swap).

I have xorg-driver-fglrx Version: 2:8.600-0ubuntu1 on Jaunty, with 2 1680x1050 monitors on an hp laptop.

A couple of hours ago xorg was using 1.6GB, now it is using 1.8GB

Hi sam-liddicott,

Thanks for including the attached files. Could you also include your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (or Xorg.0.log.old) from after reproducing the issue?

I think that the mad hard-disk usage is a conseqeuence of the OOM killer which this time took out thunderbird and didn't go mad on the hard disk:

I've posted a new version of the -fglrx driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
