Are you a member of the pulse-rt group? Does adding youself to this
group ("sudo adduser dfarning pulse-rt") solve the problem?

I was not a member of pulse-rt
Adding dfarning to pulse looked like it move me forward a step.

the first couple of line of the new .xsession-error are: (the entire .xsession-errors is attached)

thanks

I suspect that these are only warnings and that the actual error will be found in ~/.sugar/default/logs/shell.log

Ah, there's a gconf schema not being installed. I had forgotten about that problem :(

I have the same problem with Sugar gui. I'm using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 beta and I have installed sugar and sugar-activities packages.

Starting the sugar-emulator opens a window with just a black screen. When I tried to change the GDM session to sugar I noticed following problems:

- The first time I logged in I got the dialog to enter my name and choose the color of the stickman. After that everything got stuck.
- After this every time I try to login the computer just gets stuck in to a white screen and a dialog opens telling me about an error and that more details can be found from .xsession-errors -file. Only restarting GDM helps when this happens.

I have included shell.log as an attachement

I have the exact same symptoms and essentially the same shell.log contents.

@Morgan, can you give us more information about the missing schema so we might be able to work around this?
