Bug Description

When opening the home folder in nautilus on a standard
ubuntu installation a user can see tree different icons on his desktop. The icon should be unified. (possibly there are some scaling issues here.
See attachment.

1. The icon in the panel (bottom left) can hardly be recognized (even if you zoom in)
2. The icon (emblem) in the main window does not fit to the new ubuntu-theme.

Good catch. Looks like the left-hand two are the same, at different
scaling levels. The third looks like the emblem-desktop being added to
the normal folder icon. We can make the emblem-desktop be the same as
the desktop icon very easily.

Separately, I don't think our desktop icon is very clear, I almost
prefer the Gnome one, though the Gnome palette is too muted.

The white desktop icon is really poor. It's completely unpolished. It's uncolored, in fact, it's completely white and the sheet of paper is clearly pasted from another icon. It's pasted too low in the icon and colides with the bottom border which adds to the unprofessional look of it. The default Tangerine icon for the desktop is far better. Maybe you can make a little screenshot of ubuntu and put it in a flat-panel display icon with some 3D perspective. Or maybe you can just go for the standard Tangerine icon.

I believe the icon has been changed to the tangerine icon, but it is still inconsistant. The desktop icon in nautilus is different from the one in the panel.

The new tango icon doesn't look nice at all. I prefer the simpler one as per the screen shot http://librarian.launchpad.net/2734137/Screenshot.png

The new one looks a bit, messy. Its hard to tell what it is at that small size.

I just re-opened the bug since the icon has changed again - and the old issues are back - desktop-icons are inconsistent and blurry again.
I suggest to replace it by the desktop icon form tango, which does not suffer from these problems.

The attached screenshot illustrates the problem: there are at least two different desktop-icons in use. In addition the new icon is hardly recognizable.

The Tango icon is a lot clearer. This new icon is just a little bit better than the old (extremely) old white one.

I didn't mean 'old' in my previous comment, but 'ugly'.

It seems like the desktop "emblem" used in nautilus has been updated with the latest artwork. Here are the remaining problems:

a) the white emblem does not fit to the desktop icon used in the left bottom corner.

b) the new brown desktop icon is unrecognizable (at least on my computer). The details (i guess it is a pen? and some microscopic desktop icons? are blurry). Is it possible to delete some details? The pen should contrast well with the brown background. (At the moment it doesn't).
There seems to be a white boarder around the desktop in this icon. This white frame does not contrast well with the default (grey) background of the taskbar. I suggest to use a brown frame (if any), perhaps with a white line (1pt) around for contrast on dark background.
