Bug Description

Installing Dapper Drake Flight 5 on a Tyan S2895 (on board ethernet disabled) with a dual port Intel 8492MT Pro 1000MT adapter in the PCI-X/133 slot fails to detect the network card.

Shelling out to Alt-F2 and "modprobe e1000" loads the module but the installer still fails to detect the NIC as valid.

Breezy Badger works just great.

EDIT: 8294->8492

Should be Intel 8492MT (typo)

Installed Breezy Badger 32 bit without issue. Tried dist-upgrade to Dapper, the 2.6.15-18-amd64-generic kernel in current Dapper still has the issue.

Breezy kernel 2.6.12-9 fails to find SATA drives and machine won't boot. (this is probably an artifact of the dist-upgrade.)

Reinstalling again now.

Could you please update this bug with whether or not it's still occurring in Dapper Final or, if possible, Edgy Beta?

Thanks

If this is still a problem in dapper or edgy, let us know and we'll keep on working through it.

Thanks for helping make Ubuntu better.

I have the same type of network card. I am currently experiencing issues where the card becomes unavailable from the moment two gigabit links have been plugged in. Did you have two gigabit links plugged in when you experienced the reported problem?
