sound-record doesn't work

everything is installed propely and trying a direct recording doesn't work. Totem opens properly the recorded track (.flac or .wav) but impossible to ear a thing. I noticed that with Hoary an "applet" called "volume"apeared in the capture section of the mixing table of sound recorder (alsa mixer) which seems to have desappeared with Breezy.

I forgot to tell I have a AZUS A7AV333-X masterboard vith a via 82xxx intigrated sound chipset. Everything worked fine with Hoary with no special installation. I just had to install Totem-xine.

Thanks for your bug. What sinks do you from the multimedia selector? Are you sure that you have set a volume for the mic? From what device do you try to record? What does totem-xine has to do with that, it's not supposed to do any recording

Thank you for your rapid answer. First of all please excuse my poor
english I live on the other side of the channel.

I think I have found what went wrong: i could not find and therefore
uncheck the volume selector when I finally realised I only configured
the via 8235 (alsa mixer). So I had a look to the realtek ALC650E (OSS
Mixer) where I eventually UNcheked the applet. Of course the recordings
went alwright with a slight distortion I should be fixing by reducing
the volume.

I am deeply sorry to have annoyed you with this whereas it was my
fault.I however surched almost everywhere on the web without any answer.
Neither did any wikies. Your message gave me the clue when you
mentionned the"selector".

This tool is really good thanks again for your help.
