Bug Description

Hi,

I have identified a bug in totem 1.3.92-0ubuntu1 (from fresh install Ubuntu Dapper Flight 5). When starting totem, the contrast level for the XVideo output is changed from the default at startup, leaving a washed out picture on my system (Intel Extreme Graphics 865G).

On startup, xvattr reports XV_CONTRAST at 64, and when I play a movie with mplayer or vlc using Xv, the brightness is perfect. When I start totem (without changing any settings or even playing a movie), xvattr will report XV_CONTRAST as set to 126. It seems to be reproducible every time.

Workaround: after running totem, reset contrast to defaults "xvattr -a XV_CONTRAST -v 64", however, each time totem is subsequently run, the contrast is set back to 126.

That looks like the same issue than bug #6494, marking as duplicate. Feel free to reopen if you disagree
