Have the exact error message as above. Also on Hardy Heron 8.04.2 with all recent updates. The message appeared first for a week or so back, and was not there before at gnome login. The system seems not broken or so after login, gnome is working as before, but this annoying message now and then (not every login) are not good. Can't estimate what is wrong. Or 'if' it's something which is wrong judging from the system working as expected as before. Nothing is reported in xsession-errors neither, when the message box appear.
But if nothing is wrong no message as this should appear.

Hope for further information on this.

Thanks for all of the information. I will try to restart the netbook with an ethernet cable plugged in to see what happens. I figured that with over 125MB of updates to do that at some point along the line that there could be a glitch or two that would pop up. This forum is great and I appreciate your help!!
