Bug Description

If a program changes /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop configuration to "false", either over some graphical interface or command line, "Starting File Manager" messages start to appear, quickly occupying all taskbar and making desktop unusable. I could not find what exactly causes this, so my guess is that it is specific to ubuntu configuration.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Execute this command as user:
gconftool -t bool /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop -s false
2. If the show does not start immediately, try to start nautilus instance or logout+login.

What was expected to happen:
Desktop icons should not be displayed.

What happened:
Task bar got spammed with "Starting File Manager" messages.

How to stop that:
Execute this command as user:
gconftool -t bool /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop -s true
