Bug Description

Springlobby is the lobby client for the game spring. It functions as a separate package and should be uploaded at the same time as https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/196976

Subscribing motu-release as springlobby was uploaded after FeatureFreeze. I also noticed spring-engine that was also uploaded after FeatureFreeze but I couldn't find a bug for it. Both require a FeatureFreezeException. Can you create a new bug for spring-engine and subscribe motu-release?

Hi,

just did take a quick look at springlobby. It's unclear to me, if any library is bundled to me (e.g. libtorrent, is this the same as libtorrent as found in the archive?), but zlib seems to be bundled there.

the copyright file doesn't really seem to match src (there's no "boost" directory there).

However (though that was only a *very quick* glance), the packaging looks all good to me.

I've done a testbuild, and it looks that I must connect to some (extern) server to play the game, which I don't want to do right now. Hence I cannot really say if I really like it *g*.

It's also really late in the cycle.

Due to this a weak -1 from me, I guess it might make more sense to get it into karmic+1 and backport from there.

Cheers,
    Stefan.

I recall someone saying this was a reupload after a pre-FF reject. Such
packages don't need FFe.

I uploaded it long before feature freeze, there was a slight problem with the copyright file and the initial upload was rejected. I was told it would be ok to just upload it without an exception request.

Anyway it does contain a copy of libtorrent-rasterbar but doesn't install it on Ubuntu (the source code tarball is the same for linux and windows).

Here's the spring-engine bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+bug/196976

The new version removed the src/boost folder and replaced it with something more free (an md5 implementation that doesn't require citing RSA), so that little bit can be removed from the copyright file.

oh, that's good then.

However the question I tried to raise in regards to libraries is rather if it *links* to an internal copy or uses the ubuntu default ones, as I failed to figure this in the first place.

Anyways, if it was in the queue before FF, there's no need for a FFe as Scott stated. Unsubscribing motu-release hence. (pending that you get it in before FinalFreeze ;).

It links to Ubuntu's shipped zlib and libtorrent-rasterbar, so it's just a bit of padding in the source tarball that's all.
