Bug Description

Hi,

On my test machine with a a VIA VT82C586 IDE chipset and a CD-RW as the only optical drive, about all distro's installers I've ever tested hangs.

Dapper 2006/03/10 daily image is no exception if I don't explicitly pass pci=noacpi and ide=nodma options. I couldn't find the ide=nodma option mentioned amongst the startup options. Maybe I overlooked it?

I contribute this bug report in the hope of doing something useful. Please close this bug if that is not the case!

I don't have the relevant hardware anymore, but adding the ide=nodma option to the special boot parameters documentation might still provide relevant.

Ok. Thanks.
I'll close this as there's no point keeping it open.
