kubuntu 9.04 today upgraded

05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter(rev 01)
doesn't work anymore

it seems there are too much driver here

ath_pci 99224 0
wlan 210032 1 ath_pci
ath_hal 198864 1 ath_pci
ath5k 107008 0
mac80211 217080 1 ath5k
led_class 12036 1 ath5k
cfg80211 38032 2 ath5k,mac80211

ath5k ath_pci ath_hal

on live cd it loaded only ath5k

i have tried to blacklist ath_pci and hal but it doesn't connect to my wpa network anymore

this is amazing,
the driver ath5k sometime works sometime no.

the trick :

if you have a laptop unplug battery and the voltage , now with the computer without any power source plugged keep the start button , i mean the button to turn on your computer , for 10-20 seconds

now turn on the computer and voiltà this fucking atheros should work.

i have tested a lots of time on my pc, if you reboot your computer often it seems atheros card can mess up . but if you use this trick ath5k can works for you.

of course with madwifi there is not this problem... even here on karmic
