Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

With a line chart I have set the y axis to be a logarithmic scale. If I allow the axis' scale to be chosen automatic it chooses to scale between 1e+0 and 1e+1 (my data is scientific format in the range 1e-40 to 1e+0). When manually specified it is fine.

I think this problem has occurred after upgrading to the newest version of open office (3.0.1 using the launchpad open office repository) from the current version in the ubuntu repository. I am using ubuntu 8.10.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
Package: openoffice.org-core 1:3.0.1-1ubuntu1~intrepid1
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=/usr/lib/openoffice/program:/home/username/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
 LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: openoffice.org
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-13-generic i686
UnreportableReason: This is not a genuine Ubuntu package

In trying to reproduce the problem I noticed that it was only an issue when one of more of the cells were blank. See attached document.

It also seems if you just double click on the chart it displays it correctly. This appears to be an upstream bug sending to them.

Thanks,

Chris

The showing the chart incorrectly on initial load appears to be an issue with how it was saved, so it appears the underlying bug is fixed. And after clicking on the graph it will be updated to show the correct information.

From the upstream bug report:
"
For each chart and each other OLE object a replacement image is saved when the
document is saved. When a document is loaded normally for the OLE object only
the replacement image is displayed. Only when a chart needs to be updated for
example because the underlying values have been changed then the chart is
rendered newly.
You also can press F9 to force all charts to render freshly.
This is designed behavior.
After fresh rendering the automatic scaling is correct with the official
OpenOffice.org build for me both on windows and linux.
