gnome-screenshot doesn't save to locale Desktop

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

If you change your locale after install, the screenshot is saved by default to the original Desktop directory.

I installed ubuntu in English, so I have a "Desktop" directory, but I switched language to French (while learning it) and that creates a "Bureau" directory to be used as the Desktop. gnome-screenshot defaults to using Desktop instead of Bureau.

Hmm, and the Desktop link in the Resources menu is not translated/changed. (new bug?)

thank you for your bug report, what directory do you have set in .config/user-dirs.dir?

Yes, it still defaults to ~/Desktop instead of ~/Bureau

not confirming there, do you have the issue with an another user, could you describe how you trigger it exactly?

1: Have a user with an English locale.
2: System->Administration->Change Language
3: Switch to French
4: Install
5: Reboot / Log out
6: Change language in GDM to French
7: Login, you should be greeted with a message box asking to change the default directories, allow it.
8: Press print screen, or use the program
9: The save dialogue defaults to Desktop, instead of Bureau.

I'm sure there was a way to completely skip the save dialogue, but I can't remember how to do it.

Ok, so I've been looking through the source for gnome-screenshot. What I'm experiencing might not be a bug, but just the way it works. By default I think it chooses the last directory a screenshot was saved in, which for me must have been "~/Desktop". That being said, perhaps it should default to the user's desktop (or whatever get_desktop_dir() returns).

the new comment explains the issue indeed and that's not a bug but a design decision, your case is really a corner one and can be confusing but that's not a bug
