Bug Description

Working in Kubuntu 9.04a6 with ATI graphics (01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400) and the stock open source driver, every two or three hours I start getting windows errors. I will have an hour or two of perfect usage, then with no obvious trigger (often I am no even touching the keyboard or mouse) there symptoms will start occurring (not all at once):
1) Clock and other widgets will disappear from panel, one by one
2) Taskbar items will be blank, with no titles
3) The Kmenu will be transparent
4) Graphics disappearing from desktop widgets and menus

Hi kubuntu-dotancohen,

Thanks for including an image to demonstrate the issue. Could you also please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log or Xorg.0.log.old file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

When I woke up this morning I found the desktop with no icons or text in the panel, as in the first screenshot. I do not know how long it sat like that, and the problem did not progress to the conditions of the other screenshots. The issue resolved itself as I went to upload the xorg. log, but if it happens again I will upload a newer log when it does.

Thanks.

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.
