Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

This happened after the question if I wanted to unmount /dev/sdg1, which is the /cdrom since I am installing from a USB stick. I choose "Continue" but the question kept coming back, over and over again. Then I chose "Go back" and the crash report kicked in.

I am trying to install to dmraid, I don't know if it is related.

Even though this bug has the same error message as bug 298997, it doesn't seem like they are exact duplicates, at least not from the info given. Thus, removing this bug as a dup.

I experienced this exact problem while trying to install the jaunty beta to an asus 1000HE, from a flash drive of course. Just as the original poster described, ubiquity complains about the flash drive being mounted.

I would like to add that the error message makes no sense. It asks if you would like to have the drive unmounted or not, but the buttons read "go back or continue". But, of course, it shouldn't be trying to unmount the installation media in the first place.

I experienced the same Ubiquity crash when the installer unmounted a partition to make it available for the installer. The partition was on a SATA disk.

I also completely agree with danielhollocher above on the wording of the buttons - they should read 'unmount volume and continue' and 'continue without unmounting'. The current buttons do not make sense.
