Print to file does not provide a default filename

The "Print to file" option in the gnome print dialog no longer uses the print job name as the filename. It is much more configurable now, but it should use the print job name as the default filename. Currently the default filename is ".pdf" (or .ps for PostScript). These default filenames are very bad because they are hidden by default in the file manager.

It would be really if the default were to use the print job name (plus the correct extension of course), but failing that then it should be something like "Print To File[.ext]".

It looks like it has been solved in Karmic : the name "output.pdf" is suggested in every application I tried.

Feel free to re-open if you can reproduce the bug in Karmic but then include some information like which application you are using to reproduce.

I dont know if this is the place for this but could we not have firefox take the title of the web page as the file name of the pdf os ps please?

This bug still exists (has reappeared) in Firefox 3.6.13 in Ubuntu 10.10. Can someone please confirm this on their machine. To replicate:
1. Open firefox on any page
2. Choose print, then print to file

Kindly do not re-open old bugs marked as fixed.
Its, better to file a new bug instead, with a reference to this bug#. Not sure when "output.pdf" stopped being suggested.

Looks like this is a problem only with Firefox , if we select 'Print to file' from any other app "output.pdf" is suggested.
