Freezes during startup

Bug Description

Recently GNOME has been freezing completely in the middle of startup. It loads the splash screen, but then I hear a bunch of error sounds and it freezes up. I have to CTRL+ALT+Backspace to get back to KDM/GDM

I noticed an odd error in GNOME related packages recently (like Yelp)

Setting up yelp (2.13.6-0ubuntu2) ...
