Bug Description

This is Intrepid on x86, Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 (nvidia-glx-177 177.82-0ubuntu0.1), Core 2 Duo, BenQ Joybook R55.

With linux-image-2.6.27-13-generic from -proposed, all i get after the grub menu is the boot progress graphics, the a black screen (instead of X with gdm). I can't switch to a console. I *can* reboot using SysCtrl commands so it's not locked up.

Booting 2.6.27-12-generic everything is fine.

The logs made it to the disk (as expected), so i didn't need ssh.

Some updates:

* I recreated a default xorg.conf using "sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg", then selected the nvidia driver => does not change anything.
* upgrading to nvidia-glx-180 fixes the blackscreen, but gives me funny display corruption: the rightmost 50 pixels on the screen are now on the left (the whole screen is misaligned and it wraps on the screen edge). So this is not an option.

Blank screen with -13, fine with -12, and I'm running -177. Haven't tried -180.
