Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

The default AT initialization string fails with this 3g modem. NM sends "ATZ E0 V1 X4 &C1 +FCLASS=0" but only gets "ERROR" and there is no config file to modify this string.

The modem works well with wvdial but I have to use only a "ATZ" command to initialize it.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with Netwok-Manager 0.7

pablo@pablito:~$ apt-cache policy network-manager
network-manager:
  Instalados: 0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1.8.10.2
  Candidato: 0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1.8.10.2

     0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1 0

Is there a chance to get NM 0.7.1 on Ubuntu 8.10?

I asked to test with latest jaunty packages (jaunty is now beta); if you dont have a chance to upgrade or test liveCD, please check whether the NM backports for intrepid provided by network-manager team PPA fix this issue for you; install them by adding http://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive to your sources and upgrading.

Thank you, I will try the PPA because I can't download the liveDVD (my Internet connection with this modem is too slow).

I downloaded the Ubuntu 9.04 Beta liveCD and test the modem. It works very well with Network Manager 0.7.1~rc3.1.git4cf2da146-0ubuntu1.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ apt-cache policy network-manager
network-manager:
  Instalados: 0.7.1~rc3.1.git4cf2da146-0ubuntu1
  Candidato: 0.7.1~rc3.1.git4cf2da146-0ubuntu1

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$

I found that the modem doesn't accept the +FCLASS=0 command in the initialization string.
