Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
The system crashes without apparent reason when synaptic or update manager is called from the gnome-panel for the first time, after inserting the super user password when compiz is the window manager. CRTL+ALT+BACKSPACE is useless. Changing tty as well. The only way out is a hard reboot.
This cannot be replicated when metacity is the window manager.
Xorg.0.log reveals an "AUDIT" error:

A workaround is to trigger /apps/metacity/ general/ compositing_ manager in gconf-editor.
But thats is not nice. The metacity compositor "sux" according to crdlb in the #compiz channel.
