Bug Description

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

Working on a fresh install of Kubuntu 8.10. I can connect to my home network, but KNetworkManager won't connect automatically when I start up. It's not a huge thing, but it's an annoyance--especially for apps like the Weather Plasmoid, which by default checks the forecast every 30 minutes, and won't display anything at all if the network doesn't connect as soon as I log in. In GNOME, it would automatically connect to a network as soon as I first connected to it.

Thanks for the report. I have a few questions that might help solve the issue.

1. Have you installed all updates to 8.10?
2. What type of connection do you have? Wireless, ethernet...?
3. Have you checked the auto connect check box when you create a new connection?

Thanks

Never mind; I missed the option to automatically connect. It works differently--GNOME would automatically connect to any available network. Sorry for the false report.

Although I am in the circumstance of having my network shut down permanently whenever I close my laptop, but that's a deeper problem--restarting KNetworkManager doesn't fix it. I don't know what package that's in, though.
