Compose Key doesn't work in Qt apps with default input method (xim)

Bug Description

In Ubuntu 8.10 there were presented two env vars:
QT_IM_MODULE=xim
GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge
(Here you can see default values) It seems that compose key doesn't work with such an input method in Qt applications. I have experienced it with Opera web browser, but then discovered it in K3b.

Possible workaround is to change the value of QT_IM_MODULE to empty string. I don't really understand how it works, but it works for Opera at least.
