Bug Description

On a Ubuntu 8.04.02 server 64-bit I get a "kernel panic - not syncing aiee".
This kernel panic is coming when connecting to a external FTP server, not when booting.

Booting with acpi=off is giving the same error.

Hi all,

I have done a reinstallation of the system (Ubuntu server amd64 8.04.2).

But I get this problem again after a 20 min of working. I think I have found the culprit: lm-sensors.

I only installed these packages at this moment: apache2, bind9, squid3 and lm-senors.

lm-sensors is the only one from the 4 installed programs that has something "to do" with the kernel.

Is it possible that lm-sensors the problem is?

I'm running this on a Dell R300.

i have similar problem.

with 2.6.22-14-server it looks fine, with 2.6.24-23-server sytem hangs when clients work over nfs on nfs-shares.
the hotfix was to return to old kernel used before upgrade from 6.10 LTS to 8.04 LTS.

Hi Kris,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 341736

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
