Kernel 2.6.28-9 failed to install.

I am using Xubuntu Jaunty Alpha 4 with daily updates, using kernel 2.6.28-.8. My processor is an Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @2.00GHz, 2 CPU. My system is a Dell 530-N.

The error appeared during a routine update. I had selected the merge option from the Grub menu update choices. After the error appeared, I was thrown back to "Keep your existing Grub menu.lst. I then rebooted.
