Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.28-8-generic

I am running Jaunty alpha AMD64 on a Gateway laptop. See the attached typescript [lshw output] for a further description of the machine.

I installed the newest updates (which included the 2.6.28-9.29 version of the generic linux kernel). When I rebooted, I was dropped into Busybox (with a message that it could not find root=UUID=86bbce3a-5edd-4317-81f7-7d8c888de94e).
I can boot with the earlier kernel.

I have four ext4 partitions and two swap partitions (the effects of a piecemeal eviction of Windows Vista). The output of "mount" when I boot with the .28 kernel is as follows:
 /dev/sda1 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro)
tmpfs on /lib/init/rw type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,mode=0755)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
varrun on /var/run type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,mode=0755)
varlock on /var/lock type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,mode=1777)
procbususb on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,mode=0755)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,noexec,nosuid,gid=5,mode=620)
fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw)
lrm on /lib/modules/2.6.28-8-generic/volatile type tmpfs (rw,mode=755)
usbfs on /dev/bus/usb/.usbfs type usbfs (rw,devmode=600,busmode=700,listmode=646)
usbfs on /proc/bus/usb/.usbfs type usbfs (rw,devmode=600,busmode=700,listmode=646)
 /dev/sda2 on /documents type ext4 (rw)
 /dev/sda5 on /storage type ext4 (rw)
 /dev/sda7 on /home type ext4 (rw)
securityfs on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw)
 gvfs-fuse-daemon on /home/dnyaga/.gvfs type fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon (rw,nosuid,nodev,user=dnyaga)

This machine has been generally been running fine on Jaunty alpha for the last one month. The only other "kernel" issue [ which I shall report separately once I reproduce ] was a panic on hibernate [ it suspends and wakes up just fine].

I will be pleased to supply any additional info that may be needed.

Best Regards,
Daniel Nyaga
