Grabbing barry 0.14 from sourceforge and placing the following file in /etc/udev/rules.d/ makes it so the blackberry show that it is attempting to connect to desktop but the connection fails with error: "(-110, No error): Timeout in usb_bulk_read" on my pearl 8120.

Hello,

I'm also affected by this bug. I own a Blackberry Tour 9630, and while running 'barrybackup' I get the following error:
"(-110, No error): Timeout in usb_bulk_read"

The program will launch, hang, then after about 15 o 20 seconds, shows the above error and exits. Nothing I've tried so far has produced different results.
