Unmark failing gives no indication why

Bug Description

When you wish to unmark some packages, Synaptic may fail to carry this operation out. For instance, I got Synaptic to Mark all Upgrades. Then I chose to Unmark "linux-tree-2.6.12" by itself. Synaptic cam back without the package unmarked (presumably because it is a dependency of other marked packages). Synaptic gives no reason in the status bar or dialog why it did not carry this out. The user has to "guess" that he must Shift-Click other dependent packages and unmark the lot.

Thanks for the report.

Could you provide some more information, please? Which version of the synaptic package are you using?

I'm now using 0.57.4 on Breezy.

I just did a few tests and it looks like this problem has been resolved - unmarking a uninstalled package with uninstalled dependencies, correctly unmarks its dependencies.
