Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

When you try to change the tab width from the statusbar the value is reset when you save the document, cant understand why this function is applied if it reset everytime you save your dokument. If I go Edit -> Preferences -> Editor and change the width it works perfectly. This is not a big deal, just trying to help. Really nice editor for programming, thanks:)

I am still experiencing this bug on Ubuntu 9.04. The linked upstream bug report attributes this to the modeline plugin, however I have disabled the plugin and it does not solve the problem.

yeah, wtf. No point of using the short way of switching tab width when it doesn't work:( I reported the bug so early I was hoping they would have fixed it by time of the release.

Deactivating the "smart indent" plugin solved this issue for me.

don't reopen closed bugs especially if they are not reopened upstream too, you can open a new bug if you have the issue in karmic though
