Bug Description

Bug #32890 in xfce4-battery-plugin mentioned that xfce4-battery-plugin wouldn't install. That bug was fixed. But the same problem happens with the following packages as well:

libxfce4mcs-client-2
libxfce4mcs-manager-2
libxfcegui4-3
xfcalendar
xfce4-clipman-plugin
xfce4-cpufreq-plugin
xfce4-datetime-plugin
xfce4-diskperf-plugin
xfce4-iconbox
xfce4-notes-plugin
xfce4-panel-menu-plugin
xfce4-sensors-plugin
xfce4-showdesktop-plugin
xfce4-systray
xfce4-taskbar-plugin
xfce4-toys
xfce4-trigger-launcher
xfce4-wavelan-plugin
xfce4-weather-plugin
xfce4-windowlist-plugin
xfce4-xkb-plugin
xffm4

They all depend on libxfce4util-1 which conflicts with libxfce4util2. I don't know whether I should raise a separate bug report for each of these, but it would seem like a waste of time to do so.

I confirm this bug. These packages have newer versions in the repository than are required by the plugins:

libxfce4util-1 is required, but libxfce4util2 is in the repos.
libxfcegui4-3 is required, but libxfcegui4-4 is in the repos.
libxfce4mcs-client-2 is required, but libxfce4mcs-client3 is in the repos.
libxfce4mcs-manager2 is required, but libxfce4mcs-manager3 is in the repos.

If these are fixed, all other packages should not be broken anymore.

Known isssue, the problematic packages are gradually going away from the archive or being ported to the new libs and all should be fixed by release.

I assume this is related:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
xfce4-goodies: Depends: xfce4-datetime-plugin but it is not going to be installed
Depends: xfce4-notes-plugin but it is not going to be installed Depends: xfce4-showdesktop-plugin but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

Confirming this, tried to install xfce4-wavelan plugin, resulted in this error:
