Bug Description
New install of Ubuntu Jaunty (alpha 5) amd-64 version on Thinkpad X61s.
Installed thinkfinger from repositories, added fingerprint using tf-tool and set up pam using pam-thinkfinger
Now prompt changed to 'password or swipe finger' on gdm and in terminal, but nothing happens on swiping. I thought this might be same as previously reported Bug #256429. But carriage returns in no output (not authenticated, but no error message). Here is a sample session - please note that tf-tool verifies the fingerprint correctly.

Initializing... done.
Please swipe your finger (successful swipes 1/1, failed swipes: 0)... done.
Result: Fingerprint does match.

I am attaching my /etc/pam.
I had the same results. I installed the intrepid version from here. ppa.launchpad. net/jon- oberheide/ ubuntu intrepid main
deb http://
and it appears to work now. I am using a X61 tablet with 0483:2016 SGS Thomson Microelectronics Fingerprint Reader
The only difference is that the initialize on the usb scanner is a lot longer than on intrepid--This may be hal. The time you type sudo till you get the "password or swipe finger" is around 5 seconds. Same thing on intrepid was just about instant.
